Previous Exhibition: Family
The public is invited to a reception for “Family”, the solo show of vintage paintings of member, Elisa Khachian, at Art/Place Gallery on September 11 at 2 to 5 pm. The artist will talk about her work at 3 pm.The show will run from September 1 until October 9.
Elisa says, “ In most of my work, I am a storyteller. Art for me is an inside job. I work with my heart. My medium is watercolor and a little collage when I need it.” Her paintings in this show are about her family, her parents and others, some of whom escaped from Armenia in order not to be killed by the Turks. She says, “Their stories are a mixture of sadness and joy.”
The Fairfield artist is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design with a degree in Art Education. She taught art in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. She is an honorary member of the National Association of Women Artists and a member of Silvermine Gallery. She has had many group shows around the world and her work is in the permanent collections of Zimmerli Museum at Rutgers University, Museum of Women in the Arts Library and Research Center in Washington, D.C., and in Connecticut at John Slade Ely House, Hartford State House, and Fairfield Town Hall.
