Previous Exhibition: JOURNEYS II
Art/Place Gallery invites the public to its new show, JOURNEYS II, featuring work by members, Susanne Keany and Mollie Keller. The show will be up from October 17 through November 12, 2023. The opening reception will be held on Sunday, October 22, from 2 to 4 PM at its space at 70 Sanford Street, Fairfield. This show is a continuation of the March 2023 exhibit JOURNEYS, as both artists realized they had more to say. By returning to their deepest and most persistent interests, both artists have found new ways to explore the quirky tangles in their hearts and minds.
Art/Place is a non-profit, artist-run gallery that has been in existence for more than 40 years. It features a new show by one or two members every month and several group shows a year.
Susanne Andover Keany lives and works in Weston, Connecticut. A graduate of Barnard and the School of Visual Arts at Purchase, she participated in the Studio Semester Program in New York City and studied with Robert Reed at Yale. She is a member of Art/Place and the Artists Collective of Westport, and has exhibited widely in Connecticut, New York, and Florida.
In this show, Susanne’s fascination with the shadows cast by her wire sculptures has been enhanced and amplified by the addition of color to her work.
Mollie Keller divides her year between Trumbull and Madison Connecticut. She is a graduate of Mount Holyoke and holds a PhD from New York University, and spent her paid working life as a civil servant and historian. In retirement she has been able to embrace her first passion, messing about with art.
In this show, Mollie has continued to play with non-traditional materials and formats while moving away from the real world into imagined places.
