Previous Exhibition: Beside the Seaside, Beside the Sea
The public is invited to a reception for a new show, “Beside the Seaside, Beside the Sea” at Art/Place Gallery, on September 5 at 2 to 5 pm. The show is on now and will run until September 26. The gallery is at 70 Sanford Street in Fairfield and is open every day except Labor Day from 11 am to 5 pm.
British born/American artist and Art/Place member, Jason Pritchard, is exhibiting a solo show of his recent seascape oil paintings. The artwork covers many familiar and much loved coastal beaches from surrounding areas including Fairfield, Westport, Greenwich and his latest project, Cape Cod. His atmospheric painted scenes capture a sense of space and connection to the New England region he loves and works with. His paintings focus on the elements of the outdoors, capturing the seasonal hues and weather conditions emphasized by an unfolding impressionistic skyline.
Jason began drawing at a very early age, and when he moved to London in 2000 he developed his painting further using watercolor. In 2003, he came to the US and explored his passion for oil painting at the Art Students League of New York.
He now lives in Fairfield, Connecticut, where he recently finished a series of over forty oil paintings covering the beaches of Fairfield County, starting from the top of Stratford’s Short Beach and completing the series at Byram Shore Beach in Greenwich. Recent accomplishments include being selected as a 2020 Emerging Artist by Cape Cod Art Magazine for his growing body of Cape Cod Seascapes paintings. He has exhibited work in New York City, Long Island and his home region of Connecticut.
