British-born American artist, Jason Pritchard, is best known for his seascape oil paintings of New England. He grew up in East Anglia in the UK, a region that inspired British landscape painters John Constable and Thomas Gainsborough who he greatly admires.
His upbringing in his father's family printing business provided him with ample paper to nurture his drawing skills at an early age. In his twenties, Jason moved to London for work and pursued watercolor painting in his free time. In 2005, he moved to New York and spent several years studying oil painting at the Art Students League of New York.
Jason was selected as a 2020 Emerging Artist by Cape Cod Art Magazine. He has exhibited his work in New York City, Long Island, and in his home region of Connecticut.
Jason states, “I began painting Cape Cod seascapes more than five years ago, but due to the challenges posed by the pandemic, it was difficult to exhibit many of those earlier works. This exhibition offers a unique journey showcasing the evolution and progression of my oil painting style capturing the essence of Cape Cod's coastal scenery. It highlights a selection of my earlier Cape Cod seascapes, beginning near the Bourne Bridge and continuing town by town, spanning over 50 miles down the Cape, before concluding with my most recently painted pieces from Harwich Port.”
