Art/Place is a non-profit, artist-run gallery that has been in existence for more than 40 years. It features a new show by one or two members every month and several group shows a year.
Art/Place Gallery invites the public to a reception for “Concrete Thoughts”, the solo show of work by member, George Radwan, on Sunday, January 14 at 2 to 4 pm. He will talk about his work at 3 pm. The show can be seen from January 8 to February 4 from 12-5 every day at 70 Sanford Street in Fairfield. See www.artplacegallery.org or call 203- 374-9720 or 646- 258-6912.
George Radwan received a BFA in Advertising Design from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, working on Madison Avenue as an art director for many years. Currently, George is a Project Manager at Lanserring Inc., in Soho, NYC.
George has exhibited at the Art Place Gallery in Fairfield, CT, Gordon Fine Arts Gallery in Westport, CT and in the new member exhibit at the Edward Hopper House Museum in Nyack, NY. His work was also in the Art In the Windows in New Canaan, CT, as well as the Ridgefield Guild of Artists Juried Member show. He is a member of the Art Place Gallery in Fairfield, CT, Westport Artists Collective, the Ridgefield Guild of Artists and the Carriage Barn Arts Center in New Canaan, CT.
About the work in the show, George says, “I find the three distinctive stages of concrete and plaster captivating – from a flour-like, dry, powdery texture, to a satisfyingly sensuous moldable mix ending in immutable hardness. I have to make decisions along the way knowing that the end product is literally set in stone.”
