The public is invited to a reception and artist talk at Art/Place Gallery for "In Time, In Shadow”,  the paintings of members, Cate M. Leach and Paul Larson on Sunday, May 21 from 3 to 5 pm.The show runs from May 15 to June 18.

Paul says, “My paintings often depict the highly stylized figure, usually set within a similarly stylized landscape. At once sensual, and spiritual, and at times industrial in feeling, my work features the cubist influenced use of geometric form, the illusion of overlapping and intersecting planes, improbable perspectives, and subtle transitions of tonal passages that tend to tease the eye. My work represents a personal exploration into alternate views of the world, inviting reflection, prompting potential insight, memory, and emotion of the viewer.”

"In Shadow" is the title of Darien resident Cate Leach’s new work. She states, "I'm interested in both the subtleties and stark contrast of light and shade. In my larger paintings the play of light and dark is dramatic, giving weight to the power of their opposing qualities. With my boxes, objects cast shadows literally and the mood is decidedly somber".
