Art/Place is a non-profit, artist-run gallery that has been in existence for 40 years. It features a new show by one or two members every month and several group shows a year.
British born/American artist Jason Pritchard is an oil painter capturing the coastal charms and rugged landscapes of New England. He grew up in East Anglia in the UK, moved to New York in 2005 where he studied oil painting at the Art Students League, and now lives in CT.
Jason says, “I...aim to capture a sense of space and connection to the New England region that I love. “ He works in his studio from the on-site small paintings and photos he created. “It’s important for me to visit the location and access the feeling of what it’s about, in order to help replicate my sense of reaction to the place onto the canvas. This influences how I calibrate the colors I will employ to convey meaning and prompts the type of brush movement, reflecting the rhythm or ‘pulse’ of a scene...I focus on the elements of the outdoors by capturing the seasonal hues and weather conditions at the time which get emphasized by an unfolding impressionistic skyline, intending to heighten the mood of the painting further.”
George Radwan received a BFA in Advertising Design from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. After working on Madison Avenue as an art director for many years, George changed careers and followed his passion for making things into the custom architectural woodworking world. Today, he is a Senior Project Manager at VCA Inc., a high-end custom residential millwork and furniture company located in Northampton, MA.
George has exhibited at the Art Place Gallery in Fairfield, CT, and his portfolio submission has been added to the Five Points Gallery artist database, in Torrington, CT. He is also a member of the Westport Artists Collective.
George says, "In my art, I try to capture my love of and fascination with old, rusted, broken and dilapidated items. The impermanent permanence of concrete, steel plaster, metal, natural materials etc., is something I have been exploring. Nothing ever stays the same – it is always changing. As a multi-media artist, I combine found materials and natural elements in my work. "
