Previous Exhibition: LIFE FORCE - Dave Pressler
Come to the Art/Place reception of “Life Force”, the work of a long-time Art/Place Gallery member, David Pressler, on Sunday, June 5 at 2 to 5 pm. It can be seen from 12-5 pm every day from 5/4 to 6/17, 70 Sanford Street, Fairfield CT.
Art/Place is a non-profit, artist-run gallery that has been in existence for more than 35 years. It features a new show by one or two members every month and several group shows a year. Members work in a variety of media, styles, themes, and sizes.
DAVE PRESSLER has a BFA in Industrial Design from RISD. He has studied at the Smithsonian and at Silvermine, and has exhibited in Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, and Chicago. His work is also in private collections.
Dave's creations include drawings, paintings, printmaking, and photographs. In every one, he hopes that all viewers will be transported to new places and find themselves in a "visual journey of the mind."
In this exhibit, his images have been painted directly on 35mm cleared film, using analine dyes, ground graphite, india ink, and resists. With a light table and a powerful magnifier, Dave controls the flow of mediums. The works are then digitally enlarged and become micro paintings. Dave views them as "metaphors for birth, growth, decline, and regeneration."
