Previous Exhibition: Layering Colors
The public is invited to a reception at ART/PLACE Gallery for "Layering Colors", the paintings of members Phyllis P Clamage and Dave Pressler on Sunday, June 25 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM. Please come to the Artists' Talk on July 20, 2017 at 1:00 PM. The show runs from June 21 to July 24, 2017.
Phyllis combines her own handmade paper and silk organza in double monoprints and collages. These works use the interplay of layered geometric shapes like the square or its variations. There is rhythm and harmony and tonal layers. The shapes have a lively tempo and she says they make her feel as though she is in a world of visual music.
Dave uses a process he has developed called neo-anaglyphs that involves structuring compositions by physically "layering" colors to create 3-D images. They are viewed through micro-coated, clear lens glasses. He calls them Mindscapes and says they "are aboutlearning to look in order to see. I make an effort to feel the essence of each subject...My goal is to introduce new experiences, increase awareness, and stimulate thought and enjoyment..."
